The Comporta region located within the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve where the Sado river meets the ocean, has long been a favourite holiday resort of Portugal’s oldest families and has slowly also become known and loved by the international set, including a number of designers such as Christian Louboutin, due mainly to its simple charm and magical landscapes of rice fields and pine forests, thatched cottages and long un-spoilt golden sandy beaches.     

There are a number of basic cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and small shops selling freshly caught fish and locally produced vegetables in the vicinity and within walking distance to the beach. Praia do Carvalhal beach 6 km, Carvalhal Village 3 km and Comporta with a few trendy shops, restaurants and basic services at 8 km.
