La Maison de Maitre is a superb private mansion, located 45 minutes from Avignon, in the heart of the great Luberon, the village of Ménerbes perched on its rocky outcrop overlooking the Cavalon plain. Situated at the top of this charming artists' village, this elegant 17th century residence of character enjoys an enchanting setting, perfect to disconnect and rest. Guests will be charmed by the superb architecture and the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. They will also have access to all the temporary exhibitions as the house occasionally hosts artists.

Just like the village, where painters, actors, sculptors, musicians and other intellectuals have long followed one another, the house has a strong artistic soul and will encourage creative impulses that are sometimes unsuspected in the minds of its visitors.

As soon as you walk through the door of the property, you are transported into the soft, peaceful and intense atmosphere of this place whose architecture is similar to that of an old Italian palazzo with its gigantic volumes and majestic stone staircase. 

In the adjoining lounges, numerous paintings adorn the walls. The large windows offer a view of the vineyards and the lush Mediterranean garden of Dora Maar below, which encourages contemplation.

Meals become moments of joy and conviviality on the outdoor terrace or in the pool house in front of the swimming pool. In winter, one prefers to settle down in the vast dining room or better still, by the fire burning in the monumental fireplace worthy of a castle.

In the evening, guests can retire to their own flats upstairs, which include a bathroom and a large bedroom, to read, write, relax and enjoy the exceptional view of nature.
In this property, guests can also enjoy a garden and an outdoor pool (secured by barrier)..

Located halfway between Gordes and Bonnieux, the villa is an oasis of tranquillity and a strategic starting point for exploring the region. 

Guests can enjoy a tea-time in the tea house of the village downstairs. For lunch and dinner, they can book a table in one of the village restaurants. If they prefer to eat at home, the village grocery shop offers individual portions of tasty home-made food.
Once they have wandered through the little streets of Ménerbes, they can visit the charming surrounding villages (Gordes, Oppède-le-Vieux, Bonnieux, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Lourmarin and Saint-Rémy de Provence).
Less than an hour's drive you are in Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and Arles. More closer to the sea, there is Aigues-Mortes and Sainte-Marie-de-la-mère.
Nature lovers can enjoy a walk in the Forêts des Cèdres de Bonnieux and a hike in the Colorado Provençal !!
Epicureans will appreciate a wine route. In the immediate vicinity of Ménerbes, are the vineyards of the Luberon and, in less than an hour, is the Vallée-du-Rhône (by driving a little to the north).
The region is full of good chefs' restaurants, so it is possible to appreciate your stay in a gastronomic way.
