Chateau Marquis lies in the heart of the wild and beautiful Cotentin peninsula area in Normandy. The Chateau has a harmonious and romantic style with a successful blend of warmth created by wood panels, mouldings and light that stream through large windows on both sides. All reception rooms have double exposure and view of the sea less than 2 kilometres away.

You will be surrounded by the elegance of XVII and XVIII century France - the house & gardens are listed with the National Trust without forgetting some modern comforts, Wi- Fi Internet, satellite TV, heated swimming pool and tennis court.

Chateau Marquis has 6 bedrooms including two master suites with a sleeping capacity of 10 people, the estate includes the castle and cottage with two bedrooms therefore the total capacity is up to 14 people maximum.

The first floor, on one side the landing opens to a formal drawing room finished with Louis XIV wood panelling and furniture and a magnificent fire place, leading to another drawing/ Library room with Louis XIII panelling, with sofas and armchairs with desk, tapestry and a bar with views to the moat, gardens and pigeon tower. The other side of the landing opens to a vast Louis XIII wood panelled dining room seating for 14 to 18 guests

A secret door leads to the breakfast/ small dining room with hand-painted panel walls, seating up to 8 equipped with dishwasher, 2 hot plates, sink, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee & nespresso machine and crockery.

This wing also includes the Regency Bedroom with shower, WC and hand basin.

The elevated basement is the main filly equipped kitchen with stone fireplace equipped with two electrical ovens, 3 electric halogens hot plates, an electric plancha, full height refrigerator with freezer compartment, dishwasher and lots of cooking equipment

There is a kitchen table for 10 max and Bar counter for 5 max

Large TV room "Club Room" with its own fireplace, Ideal place to play cards and relax  with satellite TV, DVD reader, HIFI , Bookshelves, Wi-Fi,  sofas, Armchairs , Games table ( some DVDs & English books are available )

The second floor has 5 bedrooms, two Master Bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and WC, double bedroom with direct access to a bathroom and 2 single rooms, one with shower and hand basin and the other with bidet and hand basin.

Large TV room “Club Room" with its own fireplace, ideal place to play cards or relax watching satellite TV, there is a DVD reader, HIFI, Bookshelves, Wi-Fi, sofas, armchairs, games table and there is some DVDs & English books.

Located 100 m from the main house, is the Château cottage which consists of fully equipped kitchen/dining room with oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, hot plate, etc. a living room and a separate bathroom with bath, sink and WC, and upstairs 2 bedrooms one with a 140 x 200 bed which can be separated and one with two 90 x 190 beds.

Several gardens includes a traditional "jardin à la française" as well as an old vegetable garden or "potager" converted to a rose garden .The crowing glory is the XVII century pigeon tower, once home to more than 1000 pigeon.

The grounds include an open-air swimming pool, heated from mid May to mid September, and a tennis court. Carp fishing in the moat is possible.

Next to the castle are the staff quarters and stables. In the stables, there are several bicycles, including 2 for children, table tennis and other equipment for badminton, croquet, pétanque/boules to enjoy on the lawns. A vintage play structure with swings is located in the vegetable garden.

Chateau Marquis and gardens are registered with the National Trust of France.

Built between 1658 and 1663 by Guillaume Le Berseur, it was the third generation heir, Henry Auguste Hellouin, Marquis de Courcy, who transformed the chateau interiors and grounds during the 18th century.

Upon the Marquis' death in 1791 and his sole heir killed at Quiberon in 1795, the Chatrau was sold by adjudication. After changing hands several times, the Gatellier family acquired the property at the end of the 19th century and are owners to this day.

Moat; A large moat 20 meters from the house (almost 2m deep) as well as a smaller one next to the pool must be safeguarded and children watched closely to prevent falling or jumping in.

Animals; On the premises, there are two ponies, a dog, a cat and two swans and children should be careful not to get to close to disturb our wildlife residents

Dogs and pets are strictly forbidden inside and outside of the Chateau

Pool; The swimming pool at the end of the formal French garden includes a key operated swimming pool cover. We ask that you systematically close it down again after use and at the end of the day.

Gates & Security; Located at the exterior of the garden, the gates to be kept closed to prevent animals from accessing the garden

Security camera system may monitor movements outside the house but is not equipped to record any movements.

No smoking; We bring to your attention that smoking is forbidden in the rooms and that you may not build fires due to the antique fabrics, finishes and carpets of the Chateau.

Smoke detectors are present in other parts of the house; kitchen, heating room, hallways….
