Chateau d’Arca is located on the high slopes of the black
Perigord between Sarlat and Perigueux.
The Chateau
juxtaposes a main building, a 14th century tower, a 15th century gatehouse and
an 18th century “Mansard-style wing”. Chateau d'Arca therefore offers an
impression of harmony and rustic majesty paying tribute to the Perigordian
architecture. The castle is built on a rocky outcrop between the Bessede forest
and the valley of the Dordogne.
The chateau
counts 300 sqm of living space on 2 floors and can accommodate up to 10 guests
in 6 rooms. If proportions of Chateau d’Arca may, at first, seem imposing, the
interior of this home invites to family privacy.
On the ground
floor the living room opens to the east for breakfast, to the south for lunch,
and to the west for sunset. A beautiful traditional “pisée” pavement serves the
entire ground floor. The vaulted living room (40 sqm) has a magnificent stone
fireplace (“cantou”), the dining room (40 sq m) sits 12 guests and the fully
equipped kitchen (18 sqm) with American fridge freezer ice machine, dishwasher,
oven, stove, microwave, wine cupboard (12 bottles) blender, toaster, Nespresso,
coffee machine, juicer, and doors out onto breakfast patio and are adjoining.
Also on the ground floor are the laundry room with washing machine, dryer, iron
and utility room, guest WC, and 2 bedrooms with bathroom.
On the first
floor are three bedrooms and a children’s play area (TV, games console, DVD
player and board games). There is also a separate guest WC.
Outside you have
your own garden with the swimming pool with salt filtration, set simply in the
midst of a large lawn overlooking the stunning countryside. The overflowing
swimming pool (12 m x 6.5 m) with 10 sun loungers and 2 parasols is alarm secured.
There is also a pool house with a shower, a gym room and a pergola covered area
for shade.
From the south
terrace landscaped around the pool, the view escapes to Siorac en Perigord. On
clear days, you’ll see to the foothills of the Massif Central. A clear
pedestrian path goes along the small woods, where hunting is forbidden so that
you can see some deers and their young. The inner courtyard is designed around
boxes giving it a warm rigor.
There is table
tennis at disposal, soccer ball and net, badminton and a petanque court. The
park invites you to stroll through its impressive alley of bicentenary
topiaries and lime trees. They are interspersed with more than 150 different
varieties of old roses.
