Villa Lagon is a stunning house in Oualidia with six double bedrooms, panoramic views of the sea and pastoral farmland, TV room, a large lounge, dining room, swimming pool, and barbecue. Half-board is included in the rental price. 

The villa is in an elevated position above a winding tidal estuary, with panoramic views towards the sea and pastoral farmland. Designed to blend with the landscape, it sits in 2.5 hectares of grounds with lawns, a swimming pool, an extensive kitchen garden, an olive grove and natural farmland.

Its a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing place to bask in Oualidia's ethereal light and space, whilst the sea breeze keeps the temperature bearable even on the hottest days (and we have air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter). With no neighbours for miles, all you will hear is the wind in the trees, birdsong by day, the frog chorus at night and the occasional hee-haw of a donkey. The friendly, welcoming staff are there to take care of your every need, so all you have to do is relax, unwind and enjoy the view.

Built into the side of a gentle slope, the house is on two levels. On the ground floor, built around a large courtyard lush with palm, olive and orange trees, there are 4 double bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, a TV room, a large sitting room, a dining room and a kitchen. Two fold-out single beds are available on request.

A large roof terrace with extraordinary 360° degree views is reached via a staircase from the inner courtyard.

The sitting room opens onto an 25 m veranda with a wonderful view over the estuary to the sea, and plenty of comfortable seating from which to enjoy it. Try sitting here and watching the sun set over the Atlantic whilst sipping a delicately chilled Moroccan wine accompanied by olives from the villa's own trees, flavoured with fresh rosemary from the herb garden. Pure bliss.

The dining room leads out onto a charming pergola with a large, green mosaic-tiled communal table and cushioned seating, wonderful for outdoor meals.

Under the veranda on the lower level are two further double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a ping-pong room. All the rooms on this level overlook the estuary, fragrant eucalyptus trees and the swimming pool beyond.

The bedrooms are all spacious, with double beds, attractive rugs and original artworks. All beds have electric blankets in case evenings are chilly. All bathrooms have two sinks and a shower.

As water is very scarce in Morocco there are no bath at Villa Lagon. Water comes from the villa's own well, and we are sure you will understand how valuable this resource is. Villa Lagon is an eco-friendly villa. All the water in the house is heated using solar panels and all grey water is recycled through various filtration tanks. It is then used to water the garden.

Villa Lagon boasts Morocco's first natural swimming pool, with a lush lawn and loungers behind and a stunning view of the estuary in front. No chemicals are used in the maintenance of the pool. Water passes through a UV light in the filter, which kills algae and bacteria. The water is then naturally filtered through a variety of reeds and water plants. As in all natural swimming pools, you will find the occasional frog, water-boatman etc., all of which are completely harmless. You can also enjoy watching little birds flying back and forth, dipping over the surface of the pool to drink.

As the pool is cleaned naturally by plants, it is not heated. It is delightfully refreshing in summer, and rather bracing in winter! The depth of the pool is between 1.35m and 1.48m. No diving please.

The Garden has a delightful lawns with loungers from which to contemplate the gorgeous views. If you have the energy, you can play ping pong or badminton. There's an attractive olive grove as well as the extensive kitchen garden where the gardener grows the villa's own fruit, vegetables and salad.

The interior of villa is filled with much-loved furnishings and art in a very eclectic style. There are plenty of fascinating books to read and there's an iPod dock in the living room for your use. You'll find card games, Scrabble, backgammon, Monopoly and table football. In the TV room we have X-Box and Wii, along with a selection of DVDs.

Please note: there is no land-line or Wi-Fi at Villa Lagon. Mobile phone reception is generally good. For internet access, we recommend you go to L'Hippocampe Hotel on the beach in the town of Oualidia and have a coffee whilst availing yourself of their free Wi-Fi - we do! Alternatively, have a fabulous lunch at Oualidia's Sultana Hotel and do the same.

The staff/ House manger, Loubna has worked for the owners for many years in both Marrakech and Oualidia and is on hand to help you with anything you need and to work with the team at Villa Lagon to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Said and his wife Souwed live about 2 kilometres away and arrive at about 7:30am to prepare breakfast. Said is then around for most of the day until after dinner.

The house keeping  is  done by Hakimah and Fatima come every day around 7:30am. and are around until 5:30pm. They clean the house and take care of bed linen and laundry. In order to save water, they launder the towels and sheets once a week only, unless you inform them otherwise.

The gardener Absolom grows wonderful vegetables and salads including most herbs, potatoes, carrots, onions and garlic, depending on what is in season, which Said and his wife use in the lovely local fayre that you will enjoy during your stay.

Finally the night watchman Mohammed arrives around 6:00pm and leaves at 8:00am He is there for your safety as well as looking after the swimming pool and the open fires. He keeps watch from the roof terrace.

Getting to the Villa Lagon, is in a beautiful and unspoiled spot 4km North of the village of Oualidia on Morocco's Atlantic Coast. Situated between El Jadida and Safi, the village of Oualidia straggles around one of North Africa's finest coastal lagoons, perfect for safe swimming, surfing and relaxation. Popular for hundreds of years with Morroco's royal family, it is the country's oyster capital and also provides some of the best bird watching in the world.
